What we do

The Victorian Animal Aid Trust (VAAT), now trading as Animal Aid, is a registered not-for-profit animal welfare organisation, that has offered refuge and a second chance to stray and abandoned animals since 1948.

Animal Aid is set apart by its dynamic and positive attitude to the problems that face domestic animals in our society today, actively seeking to find solutions rather than simply pick up the pieces.

Animal Aid is directed by a Board of Trustees and operates in accordance with requisite legislation and codes of practice. We receive no government funding and rely totally on the generosity of its loyal supporter base and the community for it ongoing success.

Animal Aid is much more than just a shelter, it is a community resource. It offers a wide range of animal services that operate on a multifaceted approach to helping people to understand their animals better.

We bring people and animals together, we offer refuge when they need to part and we offer education and training so we may exist more harmoniously.

There are very few facets of the human animal bond that we can't cater for. We provide support to the community in a variety of ways, each with their own importance and relevance. They benefit not only to the animals but also their people.
