Match Making Animal Aid Style
Love is in the air at Animal Aid every day of the year, but this Valentine’s Day why not fall in love with someone who really needs you.

Choosing to adopt from a shelter is the best way to bring a new family member into your home and when you come to Animal Aid you can truly Meet your Match. We work harder to make sure that we are suitably matching personality types to give our adoptions the best chance of success. We bear witness to hundreds of happy endings every year, so we thought that it was timely to share one of them with you.

Meet Archie:
When Little Archie was surrendered to us, he was in a pretty bad way. He had a large cyst that required surgery on his shoulder (which was funded by the Special Surgery Fund) and several wounds on his back that we were led to believe were inflicted by a person. At first he was very fearful and reluctant to seek affection from our staff, but day by day we made steady progress as he willingly chose to trust us.

Archie’s Canine-ality assessment indicated that he was a goofball, and what a goofball he turned out to be. He regularly had us all in fits of laughter with his crazy antics and cheeky, playful nature. It is so sad to think that the treatment he received in his previous home had knocked the wind out of this personality packed chap.

Once up for adoption, there was a flood of people who wanted to adopt him because of how he looked- cute, small, white and fluffy. However Archie needed a special home that would be able to continue to build his confidence without letting him get a big head and trying to rule the roost.

After a lot of adoption enquiries we think that Archie has found his perfect match and it will be "happy ever after" from now on.

Quote from Archies Mum Roxanne:

“My husband and I decided to get a new dog but rather than go through the “puppy” stage we thought we would adopt an older dog from a shelter to be a companion to our Maltese. Archie has been a fantastic choice. He has a very honest personality, smiling and dancing on two feet when happy. Aside from a few issues from the past he is a real sweetie.”
