We have some really fantastic news that we just had to share with you. June was a record month for rehoming with an average of five animals per day finding a new home. Historically one of our quieter times of the year for adoptions, this year we have been run off our feet with enquiries from all over Melbourne.
June saw 148 individuals out of our doors and into new and loving homes. •29 dogs •5 puppies •34 cats
And •80 kittens
Yes 80, you read it correctly, 80 kittens were adopted in June!!!! We're not even supposed to have kittens at this time of year for crying out loud. Maybe the odd litter or two might dribble in but 80 kittens in June is ridiculous, a little scary when you think of what it is really saying. There is no such thing as kitten season any more, soon cats will be breeding all year.
Lucky for us we have lots of lovely families looking to adopt their new furry four legged family member from us.
There are several ways that people first become aware of Animal Aid but we are pretty sure that our wonderful new website is directly responsible for quite a few of the enquiries we had last month. This is not to diminish the importance of word of mouth, as many still state that this as their first introduction to Animal Aid.
Word of mouth is one of the most important forms of promotion for us and there is no form of advertising more effective than a good experience. If someone is happy with the service they receive, and hopefully their addition, then they are more likely to tell some one else about it. Equally a negative experience can generate twice as much of a reaction in a person resulting in twice as much damage to your reputation.
At Animal Aid we are always looking for ways to improve and develop all aspect of our operations, especially our adoption process. So far we have found that the Meet your Match™ - Canine-ality Adoption Program that we launched in March is working really well. The families that come to us to adopt seem to find that it helps simplify the process and the dogs are walking out the door, permanently.
As one of our supporters, we rely on you to spread to good word about Animal Aid. So if you know someone who is looking to adopt, send them our way and we will do our very best to find them their new forever friend.
