Animal Aid Showcases All-New Multi-Purpose Facility in Coldstream Print E-mail

multi-purpose_roomLeading animal welfare organisation, Animal Aid, will officially open its new state-of-art multi-faceted education facility in Coldstream in July.

The Elizabeth Walker Education Centre has been designed to facilitate a wide range of educational, operational, promotional and utilitarian functions, with the continued aim to achieve the highest standard of animal sheltering and care in Australia.

The all-new Education Centre will house a plethora of training programs for Animal Aid staff, volunteers and the broad spectrum of the community.

This includes in house training to the 46+ staff at all three Animal Aid facilities in Victoria, an array of animal education programs designed for school children, community education seminars, and accreditation courses such as two units of Certificate 4 in Animal Management and Animal Management Officer Courses for Council rangers and animal industry professionals.

The facility will also be an invaluable resource to conduct post adoptive training sessions, puppy classes and volunteer induction sessions.

According to Animal Aid General Manager, Nell Thompson, the new facility will also have other focussed roles within the community, including a co-ordination communications room during a crisis situation, such as a fire, flood or other natural disasters.

"At Animal Aid, we are determined to maintain a facility that will change the face of animal welfare sheltering not only in Victoria, but Australia-wide."

"We are looking forward to continuing to house a variety of programs such as valuable information needed by a pet owner to introduce newly adopted dogs into households with children and other family pets."

According to Hon. James Merlino MP, Member for Monbulk, Minister for Sport, Recreation and Youth Affairs, and Minister Assisting The Premier on Multicultural Affairs, the Elizabeth Walker Education Centre will house many educational programs, solidifying the Animal Aid's philosophy of education and training the community.

"Animal Aid embodies the dedication in wholly servicing the community in the ever- growing demands of animal welfare needs in Victoria," he said.

"The Elizabeth Walker Education Centre is one important stepping stone for Animal Aid to keep flourishing and I am confident that it will be a leading force in animal welfare and education, not only in Victoria, but Australia-wide."

"Animal Aid should be congratulated on its new multi-purpose building which I'm sure will become an invaluable resource to the community and serve as a showpiece to other animal welfare agencies," Cr Cox said.

"Animal Aid has been an important part of our community since 1948 providing shelter and a place of refuge to animals in need.

"It is wonderful to see it expand to include a facility that will cater so well to educational and training needs not just for Animal Aid staff and council rangers, but also for the wider community."
