It is hard to believe that December 2009 saw us into our fourth year at Bairnsdale and we continue to make a difference to an ever-increasing number of cats and dogs in the East Gippsland area.

This facility holds stray animals for the council and community as well as taking in owner surrendered animals. Dogs are temperament tested and vet checked (including all vet work such as vaccinations and desexing) prior to being rehomed. Cats are also assessed for suitability and vet checked (including all vet work) prior to being rehomed. Our shelter at Bairnsdale operates the same as the Coldstream shelter, the staff and volunteers work tirelessly to find each runaway their home and finding the homeless ones a loving family.

We really value the relationship that we have with the East Gippsland Shire Council. Together we strive to offer the local community the best animal care and management service we possibly can. We reunite lost pets with their families, introduce new family members through our adoption service and offer back up support once they go home.

We also greatly appreciate the level of support that we receive from the community, we really feel like they are behind us and what we are trying to achieve for the cats and dogs of East Gippsland. The helping hand we get from the local business community is also growing, resulting in the some much needed improvements to our facility.

The need for funding this important venture can't be stressed enough, it is a constant battle to make ends meet let alone develop and expand. To help with this problem have now opened an Animal Aid Op Shop in Lakes Entrance. This helps to generate some much needed funds that will all go straight back into helping the animals.

Animal Aid East Gippsland operates on a skeleton staff and would simply not be a reality if it weren't for our dedicated band of volunteers. A huge thank you must go out to everyone who has helped us we couldn't do it with out you.
