Animal Aid would like to introduce you to "Meet your Match™". This exciting program offers an innovative approach to the pet adoption process. The program was developed and tested by Animal Behaviourist Dr Emily Weiss for the Kansas Humane Society and includes observation of each dog's behaviour through a "Canine-ality" or "Puppy-ality" Assessment. This gives shelter staff information about each dog's personality that can be shared with adopters.
The "Meet your Match™" Canine-ality and Puppy-ality Adoption Program is designed to increase the likelihood that dogs and puppies adopted from our shelter will be accepted in to their new homes as welcome family members. By matching your expectations of pet ownership to a dogs behaviour, you can lay the foundations for the human canine bond to develop, increasing the potential for a successful and permanent placement.
Meet your Match™ is designed to complement the SAFER™ (Safety Assessment for Evaluating Rehoming) Assessment which aims to predict aggression. Click here for more information on SAFER™.
In the very near future Animal Aid will be implementing the Feline equivalent 'Feline-ality'™, a research-based assessment of a cat’s behaviour and interests that matches adopter preferences with an animal’s behaviour. Watch this space! for more info visit ASPCA.
